Finding an Egg Donor

A Journey to Parenthood

For many couples, the journey up to receiving a donor’s eggs has been a long, stressful, and extremely emotional experience. The dream of bringing a child into the world has been a tough struggle for them. Many women who require donor eggs have spent the past several years trying to get pregnant, and have also experienced the heartbreak of miscarriages, along with the physical and psychological trauma that this can cause.

Some women may suffer from a genetic condition and require the use of donor eggs to prevent passing on the condition. Another reason for using donor eggs could be a poor quality of eggs, or perhaps a battle with cancer earlier in life that has left them infertile. Whatever the reason may be, without other caring and committed women, the couple’s dream could not come true.

Selecting an Egg Donor

Selecting the right egg donor is one of the most significant decisions for recipients. Our personalized approach is designed to assist you in this choice. We understand that some intended parents may prefer a known donor. Known donors offer more insight into their health and life choices, and there's an opportunity for ongoing communication, allowing access to updated genetic and psychological information.

Alternatively, many opt for an anonymous donor. In this arrangement, both you and the donor remain unknown to each other, ensuring privacy. Anonymous donors undergo rigorous screening to ensure the quality of their eggs and their optimal health.

Our team works closely with you to understand your expectations and values. We maintain a comprehensive database of carefully screened egg donors, each with a detailed profile that includes background, education, interests, and more. This allows you to get to know potential donors on a more personal level and find someone who aligns with your vision of family.

Whether you choose an anonymous or known donation, our goal is to match you with the ideal donor who will help you realize your dream of parenthood. We'll help you assess the information in donor profiles, ensuring you have the knowledge and confidence to make the right choice. Remember, this journey is collaborative, and your input is invaluable in this life-changing decision.

Donor Screening Process

Becoming an egg donor is a big commitment that takes time and patience. An application must first be submitted and approved, which verifies the potential donor meets the necessary initial criteria.

This will be followed by a rigorous screening process that includes a medical examination and a psychological evaluation. The purpose of having such a thorough screening process is to ensure the health and safety of both the donor and the egg recipient.

Applicant Screening

The application process is designed to ascertain whether the applicant meets the basic criteria. This includes being a non-smoker, being in good physical and mental health, and being in her early 20s to 30s.

Medical Screening

The screening process for a potential egg donor is thorough and time-consuming. It's essential for donors to be aware of and understand the numerous steps involved, as well as the importance of committing to the program. The medical screening begins with the physician detailing all the steps and tests that will be conducted throughout the process. This includes:

A physical exam to determine if the donor is healthy enough to successfully undergo the procedure.

Blood tests to check for any inheritable diseases, hepatitis A, B, or C, HIV (AIDS), or syphilis.

Cervical cultures to evaluate for sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Each of these steps is crucial in ensuring the safety and success of the egg donation process.
